Ken McGee's entire life has existed around the automobile. Seventy-seven Years ago his parents started up a Dodge-DeSoto dealership and Ken, who was the youngest of four sons spent every hour after school and on weekends at the garage. At the time great old Packards, big Buicks, Cadillacs, and Model T's sat all over the place. Ken would brush paint them, paint on whitewalls, etc. just for something to do. At 12 years of age he sold his first car and has never stopped since. Ken started into the dealership on the washrack, then lube bay and parts manager, eventually becoming service manager and then sales manager. When his father passed away in 1960 the four sons took over the dealership and shortly after changed to a Pontiac-Buick-Cadillac-GMC franchise and have never looked back. Ken is now the active President of the dealership. He has his son Darcy McGee and nephew Martyn McGee working with him (third generation). Ken purchased his first antique car at 15 years of age (a '32 Dodge) and has literally owned hundreds of them from Antiques to Classics. His main interest is in cars from the start through the 50's. He started collecting antique auto literature in the early 60's and has amassed a huge collection. Several purchases required tractor trailers to bring them home. Always a fondness for pre-war material has resulted in one of the best collections of this type available anywhere. Ken has added huge amounts of the popular 50's through 70's material to this and has a full range of sales brochures, shop manuals, owners manuals as well for vehicles right up to the present. GM, Ford, & Chrysler all recommend our services to their customers. We have also branched into quality original toys like Beddy L, Arcade, Hubley, Mintoy, etc and have amassed a large quantity of them. At Ken McGee Auto Literature we specialize in prompt same-day shipping and package our products most carefully. The literature is always described as accurately as possible and by people who know cars. We have shipped to 60 different countries around the globe and they keep coming back for more. We have many literature collectors who would testify about the quality and fair pricing of our material. My brother Ron McGee is also full time in the shop. My wife Sylvia, well known by a lot of you is most knowledgeable and ensures that the product gets out properly and quickly. The rest of our staff is here to help you as well. On display at the literature store are many high quality collector cars and Ken always has something in that line for sale. Not all though as he and Sylvia have their favourite pets that are keepers. Yes! "Ken McGee is the Man to See" is our slogan and it means that we treat you fair. Here are some pictures of Ken McGee's Auto Literature Shop.

There are as many as a million pieces of auto literature in the collection. Here, Sylvia McGee stands in the middle of several hundreds of these pieces. The key to making the combination mail-order and retail business work, is making sure the literature is kept in good shape and well-organized. Here is the huge mural on one of the walls in the showroom. This is a beautiful painting from a local artist (Pete Payne) who spent nearly 200 hours to create. It shows the dealership in the 1930's then to the dealership which our fathers built new in 1947. We operated there until 2004. In June of that year we opened our new state of the art dealership at 180 Suncoast Drive East in Goderich, known as the "Prettiest Town in Canada". We are proud to announce that in addition to our Pontiac, Buick, and Cadillac lineup, in April of 2006 we had to opportunity to buy out a local Chevrolet dealership, allowing us to become a full-line GM dealer. |
